| Verifia’s
core product, the TiP (Theft of Identity Protector) software
system, provides web-based login authentication, typically
serving as a second factor of authentication to an existing
username and password-based authentication mechanism.
The software leverages the company’s world-class
expertise in Internet intelligence technology, including
IP profiling. This expertise enables Verifia to derive
a wide range of data points from the login user’s
IP address alone: geographic location, distance between
login attempts, connection type, company/domain, and many
others. These are combined with additional outside data
points and advanced login behavior analysis heuristics
to rate every login attempt against a TiP-assigned confidence
index, indicating the probability that the authenticating
user is whom they claim to be. The system learns from
each subsequent login attempt, forming a unique signature
over time for authenticating users. This signature is
used to flag anomalies in subsequent login authentication
attempts, which may indicate fraudulent access. The system
is configurable to allow assigned thresholds of confidence
required for access. Users who score below these thresholds
are issued a challenge question that, if answered correctly,
will increase their cumulative confidence score for their
current session.
TiP enables different types of Internet Security applications:
Login Authentication
Enterprises can use TiP at the login level to flag and
prevent system access by potentially fraudulent users
by comparing known information and behavior patterns
about users against real-time data points such as the
location from which a user is trying to login.
User Verification
Companies use TiP to monitor user behavior for abnormal
patterns once a user has successfully gained access
to a system, enabling the identification of online transaction
fraud in such cases as identify theft where a valid
username and password has been stolen.
Online Transaction
Fraud Prevention
Businesses use Verifia’s TiP to evaluate Internet
transactions in an effort to combat Internet fraud.
The software is used for applications such as scoring
online CNP (Card Not Present) transactions, authenticating
online credit approvals, and verifying online payments.
Conditional Access
Verifia’s TiP enables companies with online content
to respect the licensing and distribution agreements
and/or legal restrictions that apply to the physical
world by providing the capability to selectively block
users based on geography and other characteristics.
With TiP, businesses can now decide which groups can
access their particular online content.
